Leapmotor reveals B03 electric hatch with 390km range

Leapmotor has unveiled the B03, a small electric hatchback combining a claimed WLTP range of around 390km with flexible seating and a 90-litre underfloor storage compartment.
At 4175mm long, 1790mm wide and 1550mm tall, the B03 sits on a 2605mm wheelbase. Its 9.8m turning circle should help with navigating tight city streets and car parks.

A front-mounted electric motor produces 145kW and 200Nm, driving the front wheels. Leapmotor quotes a 0–100km/h time of 7.6 seconds and a top speed of approximately 163km/h. Comfort, Standard and Sport modes adjust accelerator response, regenerative braking and steering feel.
The 53kWh lithium iron phosphate battery supports DC charging at up to 133kW, with a claimed 10–80 per cent recharge time of 21 minutes. A 30–80 per cent top-up takes 16 minutes, while a full charge from a 7.4kW AC supply takes around seven hours and 15 minutes.

A heat pump is standard, and vehicle-to-load capability provides a 230V supply for powering external devices.
The B03 is the second model to use Leapmotor’s Compact Electric Platform, following the B03X crossover. Its Cell-to-Chassis construction integrates the battery into the vehicle structure, which the company says improves packaging and rigidity.

Practicality is a major focus. The front passenger seat folds flat for longer loads, while the rear seatbacks fold flush with the floor. The rear seat bases can also flip upwards, creating space for taller items behind the front seats.
Boot capacity is quoted at 405 litres with the rear seats in place, increasing to 1305 litres with them folded. A two-level cargo floor allows owners to choose between a flat loading surface and greater luggage depth, with space for items up to 2.47m long in the appropriate seating configuration.

Underneath sits the 90-litre “Leap Box”, an easy-clean compartment intended for wet or muddy gear. There are also 30 storage spaces throughout the cabin.
The dashboard pairs a 14.6-inch touchscreen with an 8.8-inch digital instrument display. Leapmotor’s OS 4.0 Plus system supports a customisable interface, natural voice control and the ability to display two applications simultaneously.

Owners can use the smartphone app to preheat the battery, operate the climate control, schedule charging and check vehicle status. A physical key provides keyless entry and starting, alongside Bluetooth access through the app.
Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloys, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, LED lighting, heated and folding mirrors, and a powered driver’s seat. Both front seats and the steering wheel are heated, with synthetic leather upholstery and ambient lighting also included.
The safety package comprises seven airbags, including a centre airbag, and 21 driver assistance systems. These include adaptive cruise control, lane centring, automatic lane changing, rear cross-traffic braking and driver attention monitoring.
