Moto Morini 3½ Sport lands in NZ at $7,790
Words: Kyle Cassidy
Moto Morini’s new 3½ Sport has arrived in New Zealand, bringing V-twin power to the learner-friendly end of the motorcycle market at $7,790 plus on-road costs.

Bikes are now heading to authorised dealers nationwide. Aimed at the growing sub-500cc LAMS market, the retro roadster offers an alternative to the single-cylinder machines common in the class.

The name reaches back to 1974, with the new model taking its styling cues from the original 3½ Sport. Compact proportions and a classic roadster silhouette provide the nostalgic appeal, while liquid cooling, electronic instrumentation and ABS bring the package up to date.

The engine is a 350cc, 60-degree V-twin with double overhead camshafts and eight valves. Claimed output is 24kW at 8500rpm, with peak torque of 30Nm arriving at 5500rpm. It’s paired with a six-speed transmission.

Moto Morini quotes a dry weight of 154kg, so that figure excludes fuel and other operating fluids. The seat sits 795mm from the ground, while the fuel tank holds 15.5 litres.
The chassis combines a steel frame with an aluminium swingarm. Suspension consists of a 37mm upside-down front fork and a rear monoshock with adjustable spring preload.

Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc with a four-piston caliper and a 255mm rear disc, backed by dual-channel ABS. The 17-inch alloy wheels wear a 110/70 front tyre and a 150/60 rear.
Standard equipment includes a TFT instrument display and full LED lighting, keeping the specification contemporary despite the period-inspired appearance.

For Moto Morini, the 3½ Sport revives both a familiar badge and the V-twin layout associated with its earlier machines. For local buyers, it adds another option to the small-capacity road-bike ranks, with a price that should help attract attention.
Dealer arrival dates and stock availability will vary, with buyers advised to contact their nearest authorised Moto Morini outlet.
