Subaru weighs up Uncharted electric SUV for NZ
Words: Kyle Cassidy
Subaru is considering bringing its Uncharted electric SUV to New Zealand, with a local appearance confirmed even though a showroom launch remains under evaluation.
The brand says the Uncharted is being assessed as part of its future product plans. New Zealand pricing, timing and final specifications have yet to be confirmed.

Potential buyers will get a closer look when the Uncharted goes on display at the NZ EV & Tech Expo, running from November 13–15 at Auckland Showgrounds.
The overseas specifications suggest there’s plenty to work with. The electric SUV uses Subaru’s e-Subaru Global Platform and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, with two electric motors delivering a combined 252kW.
A 74.7kWh CATL battery supplies the energy, with Subaru citing a targeted driving range of up to 522km on the WLTP cycle. Those figures remain provisional for any New Zealand version.

Subaru also quotes a 10–80 per cent DC charging time of approximately 30 minutes and acceleration from 0–100km/h in around five seconds.
Ground clearance is listed at 211mm, while vehicle-to-load capability provides a practical extra for camping or running external equipment. The overseas specification includes a 220V outlet rated at 1500W.
Inchcape New Zealand general manager Paul Mallard says the model reflects Subaru’s expanding electric line-up.
“Subaru Uncharted represents an exciting addition to Subaru’s growing global electrified line-up and demonstrates the brand’s ongoing commitment to delivering vehicles that combine capability, safety and everyday usability.”
For now, Subaru is inviting interested customers to register for Uncharted updates. Further announcements, including local specifications and availability, will follow if the model gets the go-ahead for New Zealand.
