Volvo Cars has released new details about its upcoming EX60 electric SUV, positioning it as the brand’s most capable and longest-range electric vehicle yet ahead of its global reveal later in the month.
According to Volvo, the all-wheel drive EX60 will be capable of travelling up to 810 kilometres on a single charge. The Swedish brand says the figure reflects a focus on real-world efficiency rather than laboratory results, with engineers optimising the vehicle for everyday driving conditions.

Volvo Cars chief technology officer Anders Bell described the EX60 as a turning point for the company’s electric ambitions. “The EX60 is designed to be a gamechanger,” he said. “With our new electric vehicle architecture, we directly address the main worries that customers have when considering a switch to a fully electric car. The result is class-leading range and fast charging speeds, marking the end of range anxiety.”
Beyond its headline driving range, the EX60 also promises the fastest charging performance of any electric Volvo to date. Thanks to an 800-volt electrical system, the EX60 is said to be able to add up to 340km of driving range in 10 minutes when connected to a 400kW DC fast charger. Volvo says this brings charging stops closer to the convenience of traditional refuelling.

At the heart of the EX60 is Volvo’s new SPA3 electric vehicle architecture. The structure integrates the battery directly into the body using cell-to-body technology. Volvo has also developed its electric motors in-house, further improving efficiency and helping to maximise driving range.
The EX60 introduces mega casting to Volvo’s production process for the first time, replacing hundreds of individual components.

Charging performance is enhanced not only by the 800-volt system but also by Volvo’s own software, which manages energy flow more effectively while minimising heat build-up. In addition, battery-management algorithms developed by Volvo’s technology partner Breathe Battery Technologies constantly adapt charging behaviour to suit conditions, keeping the battery operating in its optimal zone across a wide range of temperatures.
The Volvo EX60 will be officially revealed on 21 January 2026, with the global unveil set to be livestreamed. More details on specifications, pricing and market availability are expected closer to launch.
