Watch: Ford sneakily unveils Mustang Dark Horse SC with Verstappen behind the wheel
Words: Andrew Sluys
Ford has taken a different approach in unveiling its latest Mustang variant, throwing it into a video without any sort of fanfare.
Dubbed the Mustang Dark Horse SC, it features in a promotion video made by Red Bull, going through all the significant motorsport-related vehicles Ford has produced over the years.
Red Bull Racing drivers Max Verstappen and Arvid Lindblad, plus fan favourite Daniel Ricciardo are thrown in for good measure as well.
Though there isn’t any sort of announcement about the SC, the host of the video describes it as “the most advanced, powerful, and track capable Dark Horse ever.”
With this knowledge, it is likely going to be the new sports car Ford is set to unveil at its upcoming F1 launch event.

This Dark Horse SC will likely be positioned beneath the no-holds-barred GTD, and above the regular Dark Horse in Ford’s Mustang line-up.
Given the sound of the engine and the letters that accompany the Dark Horse moniker, it’s very likely that this Mustang will have a supercharged version of Ford’s 5.0-litre V8 engine.
Currently, the Mustang Dark Horse produces a healthy 372kW, but we can imagine that this supercharged version will be well within the 400kW region.

The car Max is shown driving features paddle shifters, and sounds like an automatic, but it remains to be seen as to whether or not a manual variant will be offered.
As for its look, it gets a more aggressive front bumper and bonnet combo, new wheels, and a large wing at the rear.
So while this wasn’t an official unveiling, we can be pretty confident in saying the Mustang Dark Horse SC is Ford’s next big thing, and we can’t wait to learn more about it.
