Nissan confirms new Y63 Patrol for New Zealand as V8 production comes to an end

Nissan New Zealand has confirmed the V6-powered Y63 Patrol for our local market, with order books opening near the end of the year. 

News of the Y63’s local availability comes off the back of an announcement about how production is ending for the Y62 Patrol. 

According to Nissan New Zealand, production of these V8 models officially ends in August, marking the end of a 13-year run. 

Powered by Nissan’s iconic 5.6-litre V8 engine, the Y62 proved to be a favourite among the towing and overlanding crowds. 

“The Patrol has long been part of New Zealand’s off-road landscape, and the Y62 has played a defining role in continuing that legacy. Its 5.6-litre V8 is part of what has made this generation so beloved by enthusiasts, families and adventurers alike,” said Steve Milette, Managing Director, Nissan Oceania.

“As we look ahead to the all-new Y63 Patrol later this year, the run-out of the Y62 represents a genuine ‘last chance’ opportunity for Kiwi customers who want to own a new V8 Patrol.

Powered by a 5.6-litre V8 delivering 298kW and 560Nm, the Patrol has earned its reputation for exceptional towing and off-road capability, effortless performance and proven durability — qualities that will likely make the Patrol V8 a highly sought-after collector’s item once remaining stock is gone.”

Those interested in snapping up one of these last models should get in touch with their local dealer, as stock numbers are finite. 

If you aren’t hung up on the nostalgic lure of a big V8, Nissan’s new Y63 Patrol could be a more enticing proposition. 

Though we haven’t got any timing for this model’s local arrival yet, we can imagine it will be landing sometime in early-to-mid 2027. 

It is powered by a twin-turbo 3.5-litre petrol V6 engine, which produces around 317kW and 700Nm.

As well as wearing a far more modern exterior, the interior has undergone a significant upgrade, and it rides on air suspension. 

We can expect more local pricing and specification details to be released by Nissan New Zealand towards the end of the year.
