Nissan unveils next-generation X-Trail and Juke, teases new Skyline and Xterra

Nissan has taken the covers off the new X-Trail and Juke models during an event in Japan, while also teasing a new Skyline and Xterra SUV.
Speaking at the event, Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa acknowledged the brand’s aging line-up.

“We must be honest about where Nissan stands today,” he said. “Our portfolio aged faster than the market.”
The biggest news for the New Zealand market from this event was the unveiling of the next-generation X-Trail.
While we only recently received the updated SUV, it’s clear that Nissan plans to move fast in the competitive mid-size segment.

While a new Juke is big news in other international markets, the model has been phased out of the New Zealand line-up, and it isn’t clear whether or not it will return.
Aside from the mass-market stuff, Nissan also teased a new Skyline, of which just the iconic taillights were shown.

This model will form part of Nissan’s “Heartbeat Model” line-up, which will consist of more enthusiast-focused vehicles.
The other notable model teased was a new Xterra off-road SUV, which will reportedly be powered by a hybrid V6 powertrain.
It will reportedly sit on a ladder chassis, but it;s unlikely that we’ll ever see in land in New Zealand, as it’s always been a North American exclusive.
