This Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R just sold for $730,000

A 2002 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R has sold for $730,000, making it one of the most expensive examples to ever sell at auction.
Sold through the Bring A Trailer online platform, the GT-R in question was an M-Spec Nür, finished in the sought-after shade of Millennium Jade.

Unlike a lot of Japanese classics fetching high six-figure sums, this GT-R had covered more than 60,000km when the hammer dropped.
Despite this modest mileage, the buyer obviously saw value in the Skyline, as Nissan produced just 285 examples of the M-Spec Nür, making it one of the rarest.

According to the listing, the car had undergone a few minor modifications, including a larger radiator, an upgraded intercooler, and a new air intake.
Alongside its rarity, a big part of why these Skylines are so valuable in the United States comes down to import regulations.
With the 25-year restrictions, North Americans have only just been able to start registering these cars in the last few years, which spiked values globally.

While there aren’t any R34 GT-Rs currently listed on Autotrader, there is a tidy R32, which is what the GT-R’s reputation was built on.
Nicknamed ‘Godzilla’ for its dominance in the Australian Touring Car Championship, this 1989 example has covered a touch over 150,000km since new.
It features a completely stock interior, and has recently been re-sprayed in its original KH2 Gunmetal Grey hue.
