Porsche 911 GT3 S/C unveiled as a drop-top track weapon

Porsche has taken the covers off arguably its most controversial 911 variant in recent years — the GT3 S/C.
Essentially a drop-top GT3, the S/C takes everything the world loves about the hardcore 911 and removes the roof.

What’s more, this S/C has been confirmed for New Zealand, starting from $593,000.
Powered by the GT3’s 4.0-litre flat six petrol engine, the S/C produces 375kW and 450Nm. This is sent exclusively to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.

It is able to hit 100km/h in 3.9-seconds, before topping out at an ear-shattering 313km/h.
Unlike the other 911 convertibles, this S/C is offered as a two-seater, which helps keep weight to a minimum.

It also uses a bunch of gear borrowed from the limited-production S/T to allow for a total weight below 1,500kg.
It also gets carbon fibre doors, bonnet, and quarter panels. There’s also a carbon fibre anti-roll bar beneath.

Even with the automatic electric folding roof, the S/C tips the scales at just 18kg more than a standard GT3.
Unlike the aforementioned S/T or Speedster, Porsche has said this model isn’t going to be a limited model.

“We have already learned with the 911 Speedster and the 718 Spyder RS just how well our high-revving naturally aspirated engine, a particularly dynamic chassis setup and thorough lightweight construction combine to create a true driver’s car without a roof,” said Andreas Preuninger, of Porsche’s GT department.
A Street Style Package is also available for an extra $56,050, adding red body accents, graphics, tinted HD-Matrix headlights, and Slate grey Neo wheels.
