Ram has stuck to its promise of bringing back its much-loved V8 models, and has re-launched the 1500 TRX SRT, which is arguably the most lauded of them all.
Like it did previously, this 1500 TRX SRT features Dodge’s 6.2-litre supercharged ‘Hellcat’ engine beneath the bonnet.
For this new iteration, this engine produces a hefty 579kW and 921Nm of torque.
Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive system, this behemoth can hit 100km/h from a standing start in 3.5-seconds.
Potentially more impressive is the 190km/h top speed, which is crazy considering the TRX tips the scales at over 2.9-tonnes.
Like the original TRX, this one is also aimed squarely at off-road shenanigans, featuring Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive performance shocks.
There are also forged aluminum control arms, electronic locking differentials, and 18-inch bead-locking wheels wrapped in 35-inch tyres.
On the outside, this new TRX gets a composite widebody kit, a performance bonnet, and dual five-inch exhaust tips.
Moving inside, there’s heated and ventilated leather seats, which also feature a massaging function.
There’s a suede headliner, carbon fibre accents, and a 14.5-inch infotainment system.
For those looking for a bit extra, Ram also introduced the Bloodshot Night Edition, which adds red stripes and a two-tone exterior.
In the US, pricing has just been announced for the new 1500 TRX SRT, where is will start from US$99,995 ($174,877NZD).
It is yet to be confirmed as to whether or not this new 1500 TRX SRT will be offered in New Zealand, as it will need to be converted to right-hand drive.
Considering Ram’s aggressive approach to the Australian and New Zealand markets, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it arrive sometime next year.
Speaking at a recent launch event for another Ram product, a spokesperson from the brand’s Australasian distributor stated it was more than likely we’d get this new TRX.
They went on to add the recently unveiled 1500 Rumble Bee SRT is also under serious consideration for the markets down under.
It seems they are in the early stages of securing an allocation for this supercharged street truck, and were firm that it was more of a “maybe than any sort of confirmation.
