Ram has answered the call of North America’s need for an overpowered street truck with the Rumble Bee.

Revealed in three guises, the Rumble Bee is available with a 5.9-liter Hemi V8, a 6.4-litre Hemi V8, or the iconic supercharged 6.2-litre Hellcat V8.

Arguably the most exciting aspect is the fact it is built on Ram’s short-wheel base chassis, which shortens the entire truck by around 30cm.

The range-topping Rumble Bee SRT with the Hellcat engine produces around 580kW, and this is paired with an eight-speed auto and an all-wheel drive system.

This allows the Ram to hit 100km/h from a standing start in just 3.4-seconds, which makes it the quickest petrol-powered production truck ever.

As for the quarter mile? It’ll do it in 11.6-seconds.

Ram also packaged in a rear-wheel drive mode for when drivers feel a sudden urge to obliterate the rear tyres.

Though Ram trucks are currently converted to right-hand drive in Australia, and distributed locally by ATECO, it remains unclear as to whether or not we’ll get this one.

Demand for the Rumble Bee is expected to be sky high in its home market, and if it’s anything like the TRX, it won’t be cheap if it makes it to little old New Zealand.

But in saying that, it was a similar situation when Ram released the TRX, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
