Report: Subaru’s three-row electric SUV is about to be a reality
Words: Andrew Sluys
Subaru is about to expand its electric offering again, as the brand is reportedly on the verge of revealing a three-row EV SUV.
News of this new Subaru SUV was first published by Automotive News, who sat down with Subaru of America’s COO Jeff Walters.

According to Walters, this SUV will be in showrooms before the end of the year, so an unveiling is likely imminent.
It shouldn’t be much of a surprise to hear Subaru is teaming up with Toyota on this project, given the Japanese brand’s partnership on the smaller BZ4X/Solterra.
This three-row Subaru SUV will reportedly be heavily based on the new electric Toyota Highlander, which is set to be unveiled today.

The Subaru SUV will be produced alongside the Highlander EV at Toyota’s Kentucky manufacturing plant.
Given this knowledge, it’s hard to say as to whether this Subaru SUV will make it to the Australasian markets, as North America is a heavy focus for Subaru.
Not much information is known about the Toyota Highlander SUV, other than the fact it’s electric and will feature an all-wheel drive system.
Given its size, it should also get a larger battery than the bZ’s 74.7kWh unit.
As for what it will look like, rumours are pointing towards the bZ Large SUV Concept that Toyota released back in 2021.
This builds upon the traditional three-row SUV styling with sharp angles and a coupe-like glasshouse.
