Tesla will rename its Model 3 and Model Y vehicle lineups in New Zealand from February 3 to align with a global naming convention, with no changes to pricing or specifications.
The electric vehicle manufacturer says the change reflects consistency with the Tesla brand and its models for the future.
While Standard models have been released in other regions, this variant will not be available in the Australia and New Zealand markets.
The Standard model typically features textile seats instead of vegan leather, lacks a glass roof and additional sound insulation, and has simplified exterior lighting compared to Premium variants.
Model 3 naming changes
The Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive will be renamed Premium Rear-Wheel Drive, maintaining its $63,900 New Zealand price. The Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive becomes Premium Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive at $71,900, while the Performance All-Wheel Drive retains its name and $84,900 pricing.
Model Y updates follow similar pattern
For the Model Y range, the Rear-Wheel Drive variant becomes Premium Rear-Wheel Drive at $67,900. The Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive will be renamed Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive, priced at $77,900, while the Performance All-Wheel Drive maintains its name and $100,900 price point.
