A Japanese tuning house has released photos of a Toyota Probox which is wearing a front fascia from a Land Cruiser.

Built by Fukuoka-based company Hakobanya, this mashed-up wagon isn’t exactly easy on the eye, but it also somehow works.

While the Probox wears a boxy aesthetic as standard, it’s not quite as squared-off as a 70 Series, leading to the nose-heavy look.

To complete the conversion, the entire front clip looks to have been taken from the SUV, including the bumper.

The rear of the wagon hasn’t been given the same treatment, but it does get a steel bumper back there.

The Probox’s suspension was lifted in order to complete the Land Cruiser look, and it rides on all-terrain tyres.

On the inside, it gets retro brown leather upholstery, and a wood grain steering wheel and shifter.

Despite this impressive aesthetic conversion, there’s no evidence that the 1.5-litre petrol engine was swapped, nor a 4×4 drivetrain.

With this in mind, the Probox’s off-roading ability will be limited, but it’s still a cool-looking machine.
