Toyota teases large new SUV with curious interior image

Toyota has teased a new three-row SUV online, leaving some assuming a replacement for the aging Highlander is inbound. 

Set to be unveiled in full next week, this new Toyota SUV looks large, and the teaser image confirms there to be space for six occupants. 

This SUV will likely be targeted at the higher end of the market judging by this seating layout, as the middle row looks to have a pair of captains chairs instead of the usual bench. 

At the front of the cabin is a large landscape-mounted infotainment screen, and a digital cluster behind the steering wheel. 

It also gets a large panoramic sunroof, and blue ambient lighting which seems to run around the majority of the cabin. 

As this image was released by Toyota’s North American arm, the SUV is left-hand drive, but it’s unlikely a Highlander replacement will be sold in the US exclusively. 

While there’s also a chance it could be some sort of van or people mover, an earlier teaser image showed a very SUV-looking silhouette.

With the light bar running the width of the tailgate, it doesn’t look like anything else Toyota has released lately, hinting at the luxury Highlander replacement we spoke about earlier. 

While details of this SUV are yet to be confirmed, it’s very likely it will be offered with hybrid power, and we’d be surprised if an all-electric variant wasn’t also on the table. 

Toyota plans to take the covers off this vehicle on February 10, so it’d be more like February 11th when we see it, but either way — not long to go.
