Benda Rover 500: Chinese motorcycle unveiled with curious name

Words: Andrew Sluys

While it might not be a household name, Benda is a Chinese motorcycle brand that looks to be expanding at an impressive rate.

With a line-up consisting of 14 models, and currently offered across more than 40 countries around the world, they’re certainly making a splash.

Just recently, the brand unveiled the Rover 500, which is a cruiser that blends nostalgic styling with futuristic design.

It features a V-twin engine, a low-slung profile, muscular bodywork, a belt drive system, and a side-mounted dual exhaust.

It will likely hit the market next year, with Australia representing our closest country with approved distribution.

The motorcycle itself aside, this seems to be a case of a name that may have been lost in translation.

I’m sure there’s a large portion of the motorcycle community that would love to ride a bike called a ‘Benda Rover’, but it will also have its critics.
