BMW New Zealand has confirmed it will launch an updated BMW M240i xDrive later this year, with the performance coupé receiving a meaningful boost in power and efficiency thanks to new mild-hybrid technology.

At the heart of the revised M240i xDrive is BMW’s well-known TwinPower Turbo in-line six-cylinder engine, now paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The addition of electrification has lifted peak power by 13kW, taking output from 275kW to 288kW, while maximum torque increases from 500Nm to a healthy 540Nm.

Those gains translate directly to performance. The M240i xDrive continues to deliver strong straight-line pace, completing the 0–100km/h sprint in a claimed 4.3 seconds.

Beyond outright speed, BMW says the M240i xDrive maintains its reputation for dynamic ability thanks to a ‘honed chassis’. The coupé benefits from suspension components and technology shared with the BMW 4 Series, helping to balance everyday usability with sharp handling and confident all-wheel-drive traction.

Efficiency has also improved as a result of the mild hybrid system. Under the WLTP testing cycle, fuel consumption has been reduced to 8.0 litres per 100km, down from the previous 8.8L/100km figure. CO₂ emissions have similarly dropped, from around 200g/km to 183g/km, making the updated model both quicker and cleaner than before.

BMW New Zealand has confirmed the M240i xDrive’s specification remains unchanged. Pricing will start from $119,900, excluding on-road costs, when the enhanced performance coupé arrives in local showrooms later this year.
