Denza’s 850kW electric Z9GT arrives in New Zealand ahead of local launch
Words: Andrew Sluys
Denza’s much-anticipated Z9GT shooting brake has touched down in New Zealand, ahead of its local launch.
As to when that launch will be still remains a secret, but from what we’ve gathered, first customer cars should start arriving early 2027.

Pricing for the shooting brake is also yet to be revealed, but it seems Denza is aiming to undercut its rivals in the high-performance electric wagon segment.
This means it should come in below the likes of the Porsche Taycan 4 Cross Turismo at $263,000 and the Polestar 5 at $239,900.
When it does go on sale, this Z9GT will be one of the most powerful vehicles on sale in New Zealand, as its tri-motor all-wheel system produces 850kW and 1,210Nm.

This allows it to hit 100km/h from a standing start in just 2.7-seconds, which will also make it one of the quickest cars on sale.
It also features a 122kW Blade battery, which provides a driving range of up to 820km according to CLTC testing. A real-world figure would likely be closer to 650km.
It uses BYD’s Blade Battery 2.0 on the Super e-Platform, whose flash charging is claimed to take the battery from 10 to 97% in around nine minutes, and rides on the e³ platform.

The charging claim is only realisable on hardware New Zealand does not yet have. The country’s fastest public sites run 400kW equipment, against the 1,000kW-class chargers BYD and others are building in China, and BYD has indicated it plans to bring its flash charging network here in time.
Inside, it uses a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display, Nappa leather, Devialet audio, ambient lighting with 128 colour choices.
There are also ventilated and massaging seats with extended leg rests, and a built-in fridge.
