Double points for Lawson securing seventh in the Singapore GP and fifth in Sprint race

-

It was another successful weekend for Liam Lawson, finishing seventh in the Singapore Grand Prix. Lawson, who started in P8, got off a good start on soft tyres, passing Pierre Gasly on the first lap, who started on the medium compound tyres.

Lawson didn’t have the pace to keep up with the top six, finishing about 28 seconds behind Lewis Hamilton, who finished 6th. Lawson did however, manage to maintain the gap to those behind him while also managing his tyre wear nicely.

Pole sitter Max Verstappen would go on to win the race, his first win at Singapore. With Charles Leclerc finishing second, Kimi Antoneli took the final podium spot.

George Russell, who started in P19 after an engine penalty and Isack Hadjar, who started from pit lane, posed a threat to Lawson as they made their way through the field, but fortunately Nico Hulkenberg and Gasly slowed their progress on the difficult-to-pass Singapore track, with Hulkenberg finishing in P8, Russell P9, Hadjar P10 and Gasly P11.

Lawson currently sits P9 in the World Drivers’ Championship Standings with 75 points. Pierre Gasly has 41 points. white Gasly has 22 more points than Lawson.

Racing Bulls also improved their positioning in the constructors’ championship, extending their fifth-place advantage over Alpine to 32 points.

It was a tougher weekend for Lawson’s teammate, Arvid Lindblad. The Brit started in P9 but lost several positions on the opening lap. He struggled to regain these places, finishing in P15.
