Hayden Paddon has returned to a WRC podium for the first time in eight years after finishing third at a drama-filled Croatia Rally.
Alongside co-driver John Kennard, Paddon managed to produce the best finish for the Hyundai team throughout the three-day rally.

A dramatic crash by teammate and rally leader Thierry Neuville on the final stage opened the door for Paddon to get onto the podium.
Just kilometres from the end of the stage, Neuville skidded off the course and hit a concrete block, which damaged his suspension.

Following this, Japan’s Takamoto Katsuta rose to first, Sami Pajari to second, and Paddon to third.
Paddon is now placed 11th in the WRC standings after two outings.
“A result is a result. We have done it by being a bit technical and having wisdom and being smart. We have made a good step up from Monte,” Paddon said.
Despite the positive result, Paddon is likely to be subbed out of the team for the next event, which will be held on Spain’s Canary Islands in a couple of weeks.
