Mahindra’s next-generation SUVs, based on its new NU_IQ platform, will launch in a couple of years. The NU_IQ platform engineering offers the choice of ICE power or electric motivation.

Two of the four SUVs that will dot down in 2027.

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited recently unveiled its all-new modular, multi-energy NU_IQ platform. It will underpin a new range of SUVs, with four concepts revealed, all using the new platform.

Vision X is the concept that looks the most roadworthy.

The concepts are known as the Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT and Vision.X. They all reflect Mahindra’s core attributes of design, safety, performance and sophistication. All are already production ready, are less than 4.3m in length, and ride on a 2655mm wheelbase.

And the final one with the wire strops for the bonnet is the Vision S. Bird catchers? Safety harness? Who knows?

R Velusamy, the MD of Mahindra Electric Automobile, said: “NU_IQ is a strategic blueprint for the future of Mahindra SUVs globally. With its modular, multi-energy architecture, it gives us the flexibility to innovate across multiple powertrains. Meantime, we are staying true to our SUV DNA.

Vision X at least incorporates some actual design vision.

“NU_IQ forms the foundation for our next generation of SUVs.”

Pratap Bose, Chief Design & Creative Officer, added: “The NU_IQ SUVs represent the start of a new chapter of our Heartcore design philosophy. They build on the central tenet that great design should create an emotional bond between people and their vehicles. These concepts promise to shape experiences that inspire adventure, confidence, and connection on any terrain, anywhere in the world.”

This looks like it might be ready to go anywhere.

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, commented: “The four concepts we are showcasing here offer a bold preview of what’s to come. They usher in a new no-compromise era of mobility.”

Another go-anywhere Mahindra.

Each of the four concepts represents a distinct expression of Mahindra’s NU_IQ platform. Each model is crafted with a clear, unique personality. Developed collaboratively by Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in Mumbai and Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) in Banbury, UK, the four concepts display Mahindra’s evolving design language. This comprises a mix of classic brand cues with future-focused innovation.

Actually looks pretty cool does the Vision X.

Common features include command seating with top driving dynamics, spacious cabins and holds, flat-floor interiors, lightweight designs with safety at the forefront, and a choice of powertrains and drivelines, all with LHD/RHD capability.

Two spare wheels. Clever.

These concepts will go into production from 2027.

A fairly serious off-roader for the streets is the Vision.S.
Whereas this is just built for mud plugging.
