New Toyota Prado to debut at Fieldays, NZ price confirmed

The new generation Land Cruiser Prado will make its New Zealand debut at Fieldays next week. And Toyota NZ has confirmed its price. 

When will Kiwis be able to buy the new Prado?

The new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will be arriving for test drives in August and customer deliveries, for which orders are now open, will start in October. The new Prado is the first major redesign of the popular 4×4 SUV in 15 years.

Is the new Prado a hybrid? 

Yes, sort of, it’s a mild hybrid. It is the first Land Cruiser to feature a 48V Hybrid System matched to a 2.8L diesel engine. 

So how much is the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in NZ?

The seven seat Prado will be available in New Zealand in four grades. The Adventure model will be focused on off-roading performance with a rear differential lock, and stabiliser disconnect mechanism, while the VX Limited will be positioned as the more premium grade with adaptive variable suspension.

Big Toyota presence at Fieldays 

Toyota will have 13 products on display at Fieldays, with new lower emission models like the mild hybrid Hilux. Toyota NZ says it has ‘something for everyone this year’ and that its SUV range is now largely available in hybrid electric powertrains. Alongside the new Prado will be the refreshed Land Cruiser 70, Land Cruiser 300, RAV4 Adventure, and Corolla Cross.

The Toyota Fieldays site will be powered by hydrogen. In partnership with a European technology company, Toyota developed a hydrogen-powered generator using a fuel cell similar to the power unit inside the hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai car. The EODev GEH2 will be inside the tent providing power to the stand while only emitting water.
