Porsche creates Nürburgring-inspired 911 GT3 for track’s centenary

Words: Kyle Cassidy

Porsche has gone into overdrive regarding special edition 911s lately. The latest will celebrate the Nürburgring’s 100th anniversary with a special 911 GT3 featuring historic racing details, green highlights and an optional Manthey performance package.

Just 100 examples will be produced through Porsche Deutschland, one for each year since the German circuit opened in June 1927.

The special edition will make its public debut during the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland round at the Nürburgring in August 2026. Orders are scheduled to open the following month, ahead of deliveries in 2027. It will remain an exclusive model for German consumption only.

A tribute to the Green Hell

The Nürburgring’s Nordschleife stretches for approximately 20.8km and incorporates 73 corners, large elevation changes and frequent shifts in load.

Along with being one of motorsport’s best-known circuits, the Nordschleife remains an important development facility for Porsche. The company says its high mechanical loads subject test vehicles to considerably more stress than they would experience over the same distance on a public road.

The anniversary GT3 will be offered in White or GT Silver Metallic. White references the base colour traditionally used on customer racing cars, while GT Silver is inspired by Porsche’s more recent one-make racers.

Green protective film has been applied to the front and rear sections. It recalls the coloured markings once used by factory racing teams to distinguish between cars and is also a nod to the track’s “Green Hell” nickname, popularised by former Formula One champion Jackie Stewart.

Green tow loops are accompanied by white direction arrows, while historic Nürburgring logos appear on the front guards. Buyers can also specify an individual racing number, presented in a typeface inspired by the graffiti covering parts of the Nordschleife.

A gold Porsche windscreen banner is intended to reduce glare, while the forged wheels measure 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear. They are finished in high-gloss California Gold and use matte-black centre locks.

Further anniversary graphics appear on the B-pillars and beneath the rear wing.

Green theme continues inside

The cabin receives illuminated black-anodised aluminium sill plates, while LED puddle lights project an outline of the Nürburgring onto the ground.

Its roll cage is painted green, as is the backing beneath the perforated leather on the driver’s seat. Nürburgring branding is embroidered into the driver’s headrest, with the special-edition model script applied to the passenger side.

Both cushions can be removed to create additional space when wearing a helmet.

Green accents also appear across the dashboard, steering-wheel controls and gear-position markings. Buyers can choose between Porsche’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission and a six-speed manual.

Manual cars receive a walnut gear knob similar to the one used in the 911 Carrera T.

Manthey Kit offered

Porsche will offer a colour-matched Manthey Kit as an option. It combines modified suspension, upgraded brake components and an extensive aerodynamic package.

The company says the revised aero generates around 540kg of downforce at 285km/h.

Owners will also receive access to a one-day Nürburgring event featuring technical instruction and insights from the Manthey racing team.

A matching Porsche Design Chronograph 1 will be available separately. Its titanium case is finished in black and houses the COSC-certified WERK 01.140 movement.

Details tying the watch to the car include a rotor modelled on the GT3’s wheels, a historic Nürburgring logo on the dial and a perforated leather strap with a green textile backing. GT Silver stitching provides the finishing touch.
