Restyled EQA and EQB Add Range and Equipment

Mercedes-Benz has added EQA 250+ and EQB 250+ variants to the respective compact electric SUV ranges. Each gains a boost to their driving range over the outgoing EQA 250 and EQB 250 models. They also come with styling updates and extra equipment.

The EQA 250+ gains an additional 54km of range over the outgoing EQA 250 to 578km NEDC. That’s on account of an increase in battery pack size from 66.5kWh usable to 70.5kWh. Meantime, the EQB 250+ adds 57km more range than the model it supersedes, out to 564km NEDC. Using a conversion factor of 0.85, the WLTP figures are 491km and 479km, respectively.

Styling changes to both include a new grille design featuring a constellation of Mercedes-Benz stars, and new tail-light graphics.

Both models are now fitted with a multifunction sports steering wheel finished in Nappa leather. These come with touch control buttons, and  a new backlit pattern trim.

Previously optional updates are now standard fit and include AMG Line exterior (AMG body styling), front seats with electric adjustment and memory settings, an uprated sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and standard metallic paint.

The EQB 250+ adds a third row of seats as standard, with seating for seven people.

Both variants use a 140kW/385Nm motor. They also benefit from suspension with adaptive damping.

Other standard items that carry over from the previous models include three-zone climate air and sports front seats trimmed in artificial leather with four-way lumbar support. There’s also an MBUX multimedia system with navigation and augmented reality display, along with 64-colour  ambient lighting, smartphone integration, wireless charging, digital radio, and a partition net and Load Compartment Package.

Rounding things out is Keyless go entry and start-up, a powered tailgate, self-parking, LED headlights with Adaptive High Beam, glass tints, and 20-inch AMG alloys.

Safety systems run to nine airbags, Presafe, active cruise and LKA, BSM, traffic sign assist, TPM and more.

All EQA and EQB variants come with two charging cables, one for fast charging and the other for domestic power sockets.

The new EQA 250+ is selling for $92,500 while the EQB ask is $100,900. Those prices are almost identical to those for the outgoing vehicles.
