Watch: $7 million Bugatti Tourbillon prototype rear-ended by Volkswagen Polo
Words: Andrew Sluys
Bugatti has been spotted testing its upcoming Tourbillon hypercar in Spain ahead of the official launch later this year.
It seems that one prototype will have to be sent back to the factory early as it has suffered some damage at the hands of a distracted driver.
A clip uploaded to Instagram shows the Tourbillon driving on a coastal road, before slowing down for road works.
Unfortunately, the driver of a Volkswagen Polo doesn’t notice the stopped traffic, and plows into the back of the prototype hypercar.

What is the Bugatti Tourbillon?
Bugatti’s upcoming Tourbillon is the brand’s new flagship hypercar, serving as a replacement for the Chiron.
Where the French hypercars have been powered by a quad-turbo W16 engine since the introduction of the Veyron, the Tourbillon bucks this trend.

Instead, the Tourbillon will be powered by a 8.3-liter V16 engine paired with three electric motors.
This powertrain is said to produce a hefty 1,323kW, which will allow the hypercar to hit 100km/h from a standing start in less than two seconds.
Just 250 units are slated for total production, and buyers will have to fork out more than $7 million for one.
