A car transporter with a number of Tesla Cybercabs have been spotted in New Zealand, likely in the country for cold weather testing.
The Cybercabs were captured by a member of the ‘Rare and Unique Car Spotting New Zealand’ Facebook page.
This member posted a video to the page, showing the car transporter loaded with a number of Teslas, with at least two Cybercabs among them.
While it isn’t clear where the video was taken, it’s very likely they are bound for the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds.
Located near the Cadrona ski field, this is a facility used by a number of international manufacturers to cold weather test their vehicles.
NZ Autocar reached out to a Tesla Australia representative, who wasn’t able to comment on the Cybercab sighting in New Zealand.
Details of Tesla’s Cybercab was only recently released, with an EPA document lifting the lid on the autonomous EV.
It features just two seats, and is powered by a 48kWh battery, reportedly providing up to 672km of electric driving range.
A single electric motor sits on the front axle, which produces 163kW.
At just 1.4-tonnes is it also lighter than the Tesla Model 3 rear-wheel drive, which was previously the brand’s lightest vehicle.
