Zeekr to open Auckland flagship with preview of future models

Zeekr will open its new Auckland flagship showroom on Friday 25 September, with a preview of its future product direction forming part of the launch.

The 550-plus-square-metre facility at 137 Great North Road, Grey Lynn, will host the Zeekr 9X, 8X, 001 FR and 7GT for its official opening event on Thursday 24 September, ahead of the public opening the following day.

The display brings together models spanning luxury and performance, although the announcement does not confirm New Zealand launch dates or pricing for the preview vehicles.

Among them is the 9X, which NordEast Group general manager Dane Fisher describes as a tri-motor model producing 1,400hp, or around 1044kW.

The new Giltrap Zeekr site takes an entirely indoor approach, with space for vehicle consultations, technology demonstrations and customer deliveries. It sits within the Giltrap precinct on Great North Road, alongside the group’s other automotive brands.

Giltrap Zeekr general manager Shawn Rushby says bringing the four preview models together gives customers an early look at the brand’s direction, while the indoor layout lets them explore the vehicles regardless of Auckland’s weather.

The showroom will also host Spotlight, Zeekr’s photographic collaboration with filmmaker Taika Waititi, from opening day.

Created at Auckland’s Studio West, the project features seven cinematic scenes lit solely by the headlights of a Zeekr 7X. Visitors will be able to view the exhibition during extended opening-weekend hours, through until 4pm on Sunday 27 September.

The showroom launch follows Zeekr’s On Ice driving experience in Cardrona and the unveiling of the Waititi collaboration.

“This flagship location is a statement of intent for Zeekr in New Zealand. It reflects the belief we have in the brand, the momentum we are building and the exciting products still to come,” says Fisher.
