Bentley has given the world its first official glimpse of its first pure electric vehicle, which will likely land as an all-new SUV.
It has also confirmed that it will be called the Torcal, and it is set for an official unveiling on September 23.
The Torcal reportedly takes its name from El Torcal de Antequera in Andalusia, Spain. It’s an iconic rocky formation where tourists can drink from a natural spring.
It also references the Latin word torquere, meaning twist — which is a pretty big clue as to what will power it.
The teaser image shared by Bentley shows the rear end of the Torcal, with a roof spoiler and black badging.
The design language looks similar to that of the recently unveiled Audi Nuvolari with its complex lights and matte silver finish.
The Torcal is expected to sit on the Volkswagen Group’s Premium Platform Electric, with an 800-volt architecture.
It will share its underpinnings with the likes of the new Porsche Cayenne EV and the Audi Q6 e-tron.
This Torcal should get a driving range of over 480km and should be able to charge at a peak rate of around 400kW.
It is also expected to be smaller than Bentley’s current SUV, the Bentayga.
Instead, the Torcal will likely be positioned as an urban SUV, allowing wealthy owners to park it on their busty streets without worrying about space.
As you’d expect, the interior is also tipped to be extremely lavish with previous spy shots showing a two-tone leather interior and physical switches.
