The Chery subsidiary brand iCar has been confirmed for the New Zealand market, with a launch slated for early-to-mid 2027.
News of iCar’s entry into the New Zealand market was confirmed by an iCar spokesperson during a recent drive event in Wuhu.

Exact dates are yet to be confirmed for our local market, although Australia seems locked in for a Q1 2027 entry.
iCar will land locally with the recently-unveiled V27 off-road SUV as its primary offering.
The right-hand drive version of this large off-road SUV was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show last week.

Production of these right-hand drive V27s is set to kick off early 2027, so a launch following this in only logical.
Measuring at over five metres long, and 1.27-metres wide, with a 2.9-metres wheelbase, the V27 is similar in size to the Volvo XC90.
With a boxy front featuring round headlights, the fascia looks reminiscent of a Ineos Grenadier, whilst the back is more Toyota FJ Cruiser.

As well as debuting in a right-hand drive layout, the V27 also appeared with a range extender EV powertrain.
This uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine as a generator, supplying power to a 34kWh battery.
This system is reportedly good for a total range of over 1,200km, with a fuel tank capacity of 60 litres.
The iCar spokesperson also confirmed the V25 will be coming to New Zealand alongside the V27, but this model is yet to be revealed.
