Ford details trio of 370kW Ranger race utes for Thai series

Ford has shown the world just how far the Thai will push its popular Ranger ute when it comes to motorsport. 

A recent release from the Blue Oval details the three Rangers that are entered in this weekend’s 2026 Bangsaen Grand Prix.

As part of the Super Pickup championship, this series sees the Ranger come up against the likes of the Isuzu D-Max and the Mitsubishi Triton. 

Fielded by Ford Thailand Racing (FTR), the teams use single-cab Rangers that ride a lot lower than their stock counterparts. 

They feature large spoilers, big brakes, and stripped out interiors to maximise weight savings. 

While you’d think racing Rangers would use the Raptor’s twin-turbo petrol V6, these use the same 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 as what we get in New Zealand. 

As you’d expect, they are far from stock beneath the bonnet, sporting a plethora of performance upgrades such as Motec ECU, an upgraded cooling system, and larger turbos. 

These upgrades push the peak power output to a hefty 373kW, which is a fair bit more than the 184kW they come with stock. 

They also use a six-speed manual transmission, which sends drive exclusively to the rear wheels.
