Jeremy Clarkson’s infamous 2006 Ford GT has emerged for sale online, and it’s sure to draw a crowd due to its interesting history.
Listed through exotic car dealer Tom Hartley Cars, the GT was posted just days after Clarkson revealed his prostate cancer diagnosis.
Finished in midnight blue, the GT has covered 28,000 miles (45,000km) in its 20-year life, and still looks factory fresh.
It is reportedly one of just 101 Europe-delivered GTs, and is arguably the most famous to exist.
This is because of Clarkson’s storied history with the car, with issues that were front and centre during Top Gear’s prime.
Plagued by electrical gremlins from day one, Clarkson wasn’t afraid of sharing these with the world.
The immobilizer famously left him stranded at the show’s studios, and the alarm would go off at night, waking his household.
Arguably the most humorous were the stolen vehicle texts he would receive whilst driving the supercar.
Clarkson eventually forced Ford to buy the car back. Unable to get the American supercar out of his dreams, he purchased it a second time, once the issues were resolved.
It’s unclear as to whether or not Clarkson still owns the GT, and is the one selling it, but he recently left a comment on the listing Instagram post, saying: “I hope they’ve fixed the alarm!!!”
As for how much this GT will go for remains a mystery. With a 5.4-litre supercharged V8 engine paired with a six-speed manual, it’s a performance car time capsule.
Other examples around the same age are selling well into the seven-figure region, fetching at least $2 million at various auctions.
Given Clarkson’s prominence, and how famous this car is itself, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it go for much more than this.
