After teasing a concept at the Japan Mobility Show earlier this year, Honda has unveiled the production version of its Super-One hatch.
As an electric hot hatch, the Super-One isn’t just a re-skinned N-One, but gets a plethora of upgrades that run more than skin deep.
Honda claims that this Super-One is a spiritual successor to the iconic City Turbo II Bulldog, and it isn’t hard to see why.
On the outside it features wide fenders, and large air intakes on the bumpers. It also gets a roof spoiler.
It also gets an exclusive purple colour, which Honda is calling Boost Violet Pearl. This hue is supposedly inspired by lightning.
Beneath this tough exterior, it is powered by a single electric motor on the front axle, which produces around 70kW.
Though this is more than the standard N-One, it’s significantly less than the 113kW offered by the original Honda e.
And with just 70kW available, it’s hard to get onboard with Honda’s ‘hot hatch’ moniker, but then again, it might be more than enough for those tight Tokyo streets.
It is powered by a 29.6kWh battery, and while range figures aren’t provided, it should be a decent amount, considering its small stature and modest power output.
On the inside, things are hardly as exciting as the exterior, with a very normal-looking interior fit out.
It gets a two-spoke steering wheel, a 7-inch digital cluster, and a 9-inch infotainment display.
The blue and white bolstered semi-bucket seats are easily the most interesting part of the cabin.
Honda notes that the motor will growl like an ICE engine through the speaker set-up, and the Super-One will mimic gear shifts.
Honda New Zealand has previously confirmed that this Super One EV will be launched locally in the second half of 2026.
