Honda confirms next-generation Avancier for New Zealand, but what is it?
Words: Andrew Sluys
Honda New Zealand has confirmed the next-generation Avancier will be launching here in 2027, but the details stop there.
The press release reads:
“Designed to embody the next generation of Honda’s design philosophy, Avancier combines elegant and progressive styling with innovative technology while retaining the character and experience Honda has built its reputation in New Zealand for many years.
“While details remain under wraps, today’s teaser reveals a bold silhouette, distinctive lighting signature and a confident presence that signals a significant step forward for the brand.”
The final line of the release talks about how Honda is “growing its hybrid footprint by expanding hybrid variants across the SUV range,” which points to this Avancier being some sort of hybrid.

The original Avancier debuted in 1999 as an Accord-based station wagon. The nameplate was then revived in 2016 as an SUV crossover built in conjunction with Chinese manufacturer GAC.
This version remains in production, but it’s unclear if this is the Avancier that we will be getting next year.

International reports point to the nameplate finding its way to a three-row SUV that is set to go into production early next year.
A report from Autoindustriya points to it being built in Thailand, alongside models like the Civic, HR-V and CR-V.
It remains unclear if this new Avancier will supersede the three-row CR-V, which has been a staple in Honda New Zealand’s line-up for years.
Honda New Zealand concluded the release by stating details of this new Avancier will be “released in due course.”
