New Polestar 4 SUV priced for New Zealand ahead of late 2026 arrival
Words: Andrew Sluys
The Polestar 4 SUV has been unveiled, arriving as a more traditional version of the electric coupe without a rear window.
As well as offering better visibility, the refreshed rear end also adds practicality, offering up to 1,680 litres of luggage space. The roof itself is also more practical, with the new roof rails able to carry up to 100kg.

A digital rear-view mirror remains optional, which will help when luggage is loaded to the roof at the rear.
With such a low roofline, this new Polestar 4 SUV almost looks like a station wagon; a segment that has been regaining popularity in China.
While most of Polestar’s manufacturing is based in China, this Polestar 4 SUV will be built at its plant in Busan, South Korea.

And speaking of China, it’s likely this new SUV will face most of its competition from the Zeekr 7GT, which will likely land in the $90,000 to $100,000 region when they eventually go on sale locally.
It is built on the same SEA architecture as the Polestar 4 Coupe, meaning the powertrain is carried over.
Like the coupe, the Polestar 4 will be offered locally in two guises; Long Range Single Motor, and the performance-orientated Long Range Dual motor.

According to the brand’s local website, pricing remains the same as the Polestar 4 Coupe, with the single motor version starting at $109,900, whilst the dual motor starts at $119,900.
Both versions feature a 100kWh battery, which can be charged at up to 200kW when using a DC fast charger.
The Rear Motor model features a single electric motor on the rear axle, producing 200kW and 343Nm of torque.

It can cover up to 630km (WLTP) on a single charge, and completes the 0-100km/h sprint in 7.3-seconds.
The Dual Motor all-wheel drive variant uses a pair of electric motors, producing a total of 400kW and 686Nm.
It will hit 100km/h from a standing start in just 3.9-seconds, just this performance comes with a reduced range of 600km (WLTP).

A $9,000 Performance Pack is also available on the dual motor version, adding recalibrated dampers, Brembo brakes, 22-inch wheels, and Pirelli P Zero tyres. It’s worth noting range drops to 520km with this package optioned.
On the inside, it remains very similar to the Polestar 4 Coupe, aside from the addition of the glass rear window.

It does however add vehicle-to-load functionality, which allows the SUV to supply up to 3.3kW of power to an external device.
According to Polestar’s New Zealand website, local deliveries of this new SUV will commence in Q4 of 2026.
