Ram 2500 Warlock might bring the Hemi V8 back to Australia, will New Zealand also get it?
Words: Andrew Sluys
Ram Trucks Australia have filed a homologation document for a new 2500 model, dubbed the ‘Warlock’.
Aside from the strange naming convention, the other notable part of this new American truck is the fact it is powered by a 6.4-litre V8 engine.
This engine produces 305kW/582Nm, which is significantly down (torque-wise) on the 6.7-litre diesel Cummins offered on both sides of the Tasman.

The big straight six produces 313kW/1152Nm, almost double the torque output.
Despite this lack of Newton’s metres, the Warlock is still rated to tow up to 4.5-tonne in Australia, according to the documents.
Pair this with the 33-inch all-terrain tyres that it rides on, and it looks like Ram Trucks is trying to offer this model as an affordable off-roader.
Ram Trucks New Zealand currently offers both the 2500 and 3500 with the Cummins turbo diesel engine.

The last V8-powered Rams finished here in late 2024, and were then replaced by the Hurricane-powered 1500s.
Speaking on this new model a spokesperson from Ram Trucks Australia said:
“Ram Trucks Australia & New Zealand regularly assesses models from the vast catalogue of vehicles available in the US and appreciates the passion for the return of the iconic Hemi V8, but there is nothing to announce today”.
