BMW M Nürburgring anniversary edition coming to New Zealand

Words: Kyle Cassidy

BMW’s special “100 Jahre Nürburgring” edition will be offered in New Zealand, marking the circuit’s centenary with a collection of six high-performance M models.

The global range will span the BMW M2, M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé, M5 Sedan and M5 Touring. BMW New Zealand has yet to confirm which models will be available locally, with allocation, pricing, specifications and arrival timing to be announced later.

Each car celebrates BMW M’s longstanding relationship with the Nürburgring, which remains an important development venue for the company’s performance models.

“The Nürburgring is much more than just a racetrack for us. It is a second home for BMW M. All our production vehicles are put through their paces on the Nordschleife. With the Edition 100 Jahre Nürburgring, we celebrate our longstanding and successful relationship with the Nürburgring.”

BMW M CEO Frank van Meel said the edition reflects the connection between the circuit and the company’s road cars.

All six models will be offered in Nürburgring Green, a colour developed specifically for the anniversary range. Black Sapphire metallic will be available as an alternative.

Graphics incorporate the circuit’s “100 Years” logo, “Nürburgring since 1927” wording and the outline of the Nordschleife. BMW has also applied various combinations of green, black and light-grey accents to the wheels, kidney grilles and bodywork.

The M2 receives door graphics, a carbon roof with BMW M stripes, carbon bucket seats and black 930 M wheels. Nordschleife embroidery appears on the front headrests.

Both M3 variants gain graphics across the front doors, C-pillars and rear side sections, along with 826 M wheels featuring Nürburgring Green accents. The M3 Sedan has a carbon roof, while the Touring receives similar graphics applied to its steel roof.

The M4 Coupé follows much the same formula, combining its carbon roof with edition stripes, green wheel details and a matching kidney grille surround when finished in Black Sapphire.

For the M5 Sedan and Touring, the package includes 951 M wheels with green accents, body graphics and black Nordschleife embroidery inside. The Sedan uses a carbon roof, while the Touring retains a steel panel with model-specific stripes.

BMW has not announced any powertrain or chassis changes for the anniversary cars. The M5 variants retain their M Hybrid drivetrains, while the other models continue with their existing performance hardware.

The edition carries the tagline “Born on the Racetrack. Made for the Streets”, although Kiwi buyers will have to wait a little longer to discover which versions are making the journey here and what they will cost.
