Lancia reckons the Delta HF Integrale will make a comeback in 2026, initially as a dual-motor EV.
The news broke some years back that Lancia was reviving the Delta. Many found this hard to believe, given there has been nothing much you’d describe as sporty from Lancia in the past 30 years.
However, now that the company is involved in rallying again with the Ypsilon, then perhaps talk of a “Delta HF Integrale’ arriving in 2026 will end up as actual product.
Lancia says a new version of the Ypsilon HF rally car will be built to Rally6 specifications. The latter represents a new category described as an affordable entry level into the sport.
The Italian also says that the HF name is “back and ready to take a central role in the brand’s vision of the future”. The HF for High Fidelity used to be the particularly sporty models in days gone by. An HF version of the Gamma sedan is also promised.
The powertrains will be electric but perhaps not solely. Since the great EV adoption slowdown of the past few years, most car markers have been offering ICE power alternatives so maybe that will also apply to the Delta HF Integrale. Moreover, Lancia has already suggested hybrid power for its Gamma so perhaps that will apply to the upcoming Delta too.
In the meantime, the Delta HF due out next year is expected to be a dual-motor EV. It will likely use the Vauxhall Mokka powertrain. Of more note is the body style Lancia adopts, whether a hatchback or SUV. Either way, it’s mainly a ground clearance difference. A low slung hatchback would be preferable for dynamics.
There’s next to no information available on the new Delta, but the fact the brand is back in rallying is a hopeful sign.
