Cupra New Zealand is adding the electric Tavascan to its line-up. This is the brand’s first fully electric SUV coupé. Featuring sculpted, aerodynamic design and a driver-centric interior, Tavascan is the next step in Cupra’s electrification strategy.

Sports coupe look for Tavascan which vies with Polestar 4 and q6 e-tron.

Customers can choose between two variants, Tavascan V and the Tavascan VZ. Both are 4644mm long, five seaters and have luggage capacity of 540L. Braked towing is 1000kg for the V and 1200kg for the VZ.

Lots of purple filters for the Tavascan shoot. No idea why.

The former is a rear-wheel drive single-motor model with maximum output of 210kW. It offers an electric driving range of up to 534 kilometres (WLTP) thanks to its 77kWh battery pack. A sprint time to 100km/h takes a claimed 6.8sec.

It's a good look from any angle, but then you expect that from Cupra.

Tavascan VZ ups the ante, delivering 250kW through a dual-motor, all-wheel drive system. Both powertrains deliver 545Nm of torque.

With the same battery pack, the VZ has a driving range of up to 500km (WLTP). Both recharge (0-100 per cent) at home in eight hours using an 11kW wallbox. On a 135kW fast charger, a 10-80 per cent refill takes 28min.

Full width lightbar is so today, until it's not any more.

The VZ offers slightly stronger acceleration – 0-100km/h of 5.8sec – and added traction across all four wheels. It also features sport suspension and adaptive damping. Drivers can tailor the vehicle’s dynamics using Cupra Drive Mode Select.

Bigger wheels needed to fill those wheel arches.

Both variants of the Tavascan feature adaptive cruise control, side assist with exit warning, and a surround camera system. Lane assist and high beam assist provide additional support behind the wheel, while smartphone integration is by Bluetooth and there’s full SmartLink compatibility. A 12-speaker Sennheiser sound system comes as standard.

More night action in a town called Purple.

Cupra New Zealand General Manager, Luke Meurant, says the Tavascan is a clear signal of where the brand is heading.

It “is yet another demonstration of the expertise and capability of our factory teams, bringing together design, performance, and technology in a way that is distinctively Cupra.”

Just as styling on the inside with its sci-fi centre console from a starship.

Cupra National Sales Manager, Clinton Baird, believes the two-variant line-up is well suited to the New Zealand market.

“The Tavascan V will appeal to those looking for everyday electric performance and exceptional range, while the VZ takes it up a level with its dual-motor drivetrain and sport chassis. Both models are packed with features and deliver a premium driving experience that stands out from the crowd.”

Smart looking seats have all the goodies in the top VZ model.

The Cupra Tavascan arrives in New Zealand this October. RRP is $89,990 for V and $109,900 for the VZ, before ORCs.

An early preview vehicle will be touring the country from August 15th, giving individuals the opportunity to experience the Tavascan ahead of its launch.

Those interested should contact their local Cupra dealership to arrange a personal viewing.
