David Vinsen to move on from VIA CEO role

Words: Harrison Wade

David Vinsen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Imported Motor Vehicle Industry Association (VIA), has today announced he will be leaving the role after 20 years.

In a statement released on AutoTalk, Vinsen said he will be moving on once the company’s board members make a decision as to who his replacement will be.

The CEO previously indicated his intentions to retire mid-last year as he shifted from a full time role to a 20-hour week in July 2022.

His plans for the future involve “taking things a bit easy”, such as travelling and motorcycling.

Vinsen also stated that he’s taken on another role related to the automotive industry on a part-time basis, becoming the director and trustee of Auto Stewardship NZ, the governing structure for Tyrewise, which handles the recycling of used vehicle tyres in New Zealand.

The move comes just a week after the VIA’s Chairman, Chris Stephensen, announced he will be resigning.

VIA is currently considering applications for the role of CEO.
