The GAC Aion UT is the newest electric vehicle on the market, launching today in Auckland.

It’s a cute looking five-door hatch measuring up at 4270mm long and sitting on a 2750mm wheelbase with seats for five.

The front driver has a 150kW/210Nm motor good for a 0 to 100 run of 7.3 seconds.

What’s the range of the GAC Aion UT?

Of more relevance is the 430km (WLTP) range you might get from the 60kW battery. GAC rates vehicle consumption at 16.4kWh/100km. There’s an 11kW AC charging facility, a vehicle to load function and the max DC rate is 87kW. They tell us that will give you a 30 to 80 per cent charge in 24 minutes.

It rolls on 17-inch alloys and there are McPherson struts up front with a torsion beam on the rear. GAC states a long list of safety and driver assistance features but there’s no ANCAP rating at this stage.
