GAC cuts NZ prices, with electric Aion UT now from $35,990

NZ Autocar

GAC’s Aion UT electric hatch now starts at $35,990 plus on-road costs, with discounts across the brand’s New Zealand range also lowering the price of its petrol SUV and plug-in hybrid people mover.

The offers take $4000 off both grades of Aion UT and M8, while the Aion V electric SUV and petrol Emzoom receive $2000 reductions.

There’s an equipment bonus for buyers who had budgeted for the usual entry price. The Lux versions of the Aion UT, Aion V and M8 now cost the same as each model’s undiscounted base variant.

The cheapest way into the GAC range remains the Emzoom. Its price falls from $31,990 to $29,990, before on-road costs, putting the petrol SUV below the $30,000 mark.

For those looking to go electric, the Aion UT’s $4000 saving reduces the standard model from $39,990 to $35,990. The Lux drops from $43,990 to $39,990.

Both use a 60kWh battery and 150kW motor, with a quoted WLTP range of 430km. Spending the extra $4000 on Lux therefore buys additional equipment, including a panoramic roof and power-folding mirrors, with the same battery, output and rated range.

The Aion V follows a similar pattern. Its standard model falls from $49,990 to $47,990, while Lux moves from $51,990 to $49,990.

Both versions of the electric SUV have a 75kWh battery and quoted WLTP range of up to 510km. Lux adds genuine leather upholstery and massaging front seats, bringing those features within a $50,000 vehicle budget before on-road costs.

At the larger end of the range, the M8 plug-in hybrid people mover now starts at $81,990, down from $85,990. M8 Lux drops from $89,990 to $85,990.

Buyers have until 31 October 2026 to take up the Aion UT offer. The Aion V, Emzoom and M8 deals run until 30 November 2026, with vehicles required to be purchased and registered by the applicable deadline.

Although GAC describes the $4000 offers as cashback, its terms specify an immediate reduction in the purchase price at the time of sale.
