The Concept BST is a re-imagining of Polestar’s 6 supersports car, “turned up to 11”. The firm unveiled the electric sportster at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The track-focused two-seater is based upon the upcoming 6 sports car. It is not the only BST concept, being a follow-up to the 2021’s Polestar 2 BST Edition 270.
Based on the mechanicals of the forthcoming 6, it is essentially a track-oriented reworking of the 6 sports car. The renewed version features a removable roof and adds a fenestrated bonnet and front splitter. It also has a sizeable rear wing, muscular wheel arches and a significantly wider track.
The flyer sits on 22-inch alloy wheels and is the second BST variant. Originally the 2 BST Edition 270 debuted at Goodwood and then went into limited production. Whether or not this does is unclear. BST evidently stands for Beast.
The new one uses the same bonded aluminium unibody as the 6. Powertrain details have not been revealed but the 6 features a dual motor set-up that gives it system power of 652kW and 900Nm. The output is divvied up to all four wheels. Expect an 800V architecture for fast-charging capability.
Whether or not it goes into production is unclear but Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath suggested as much . He said it is “a demonstration of how far we can push our performance brand and how we could apply the BST formula to our line-up in the future.”
The 6 roadster upon which it is based was itself a limited edition run of 500, all of which sold out. It too was shown off at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year.
