Just weeks after announcing it would revive its Gordini brand, Renault has shown off its latest version of its city car in the distinct French racing blue with white stripes.

Exterior features on the Twingo Gordini RS include the front and rear bumpers enhanced by gloss black details, while the foglamp surrounds, exterior mirror housings and lip spoiler all stand out in a contrasting white finish, 17-inch aluminium allow wheels with blue or black diamond effect.

‘Gordini Series’ badging either side refers back to the heyday of the Gordini Cup when the qualifying heats of the different meetings were known as séries.

Inside are Renault Sport seats upholstered in blue or black leather and plenty of Gordini badging.

Under the bonnet is a 1.6-litre 133hp petrol engine with specially-tuned engine pitch under acceleration.

Other features include cruise control, automatic headlamp and rain sensor, disconnectable ESP, steering wheel-mounted stereo control, tinted rear glass, sliding rear seats. The Twingo Gordini RS will premiere in 10 January, 2010, at the L’Atelier Renault on the Champs-Elysées, in Paris, as part of the prestige showroom’s ‘Christmas in Blue’ exhibition. It will then go on sale across Europe from March 2010.

Order books will open in France in February 2010.
