GWM has revealed the final specifications for its Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV, ahead of the model’s New Zealand showroom arrival in early April.
Following the recent confirmation of pricing, the plug-in hybrid off-road SUV will be offered locally in two variants; Lux and Ultra.
Pricing is set at $63,990 for the Lux, while the range-topping Ultra will retail from $68,990. Both models are underpinned by a ladder-frame chassis and GWM’s Hi4-T four-wheel-drive system, positioning the Tank 300 as an off-road contender.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a 37.11kWh battery, delivering a combined 300kW and 750Nm through a nine-speed hybrid automatic transmission.
GWM claims fuel consumption of 1.9L/100km on the NEDC cycle, with an EV-only driving range of up to 115km and a combined range of 955km. That fule use figure will depend on just how often you can keep the battery charged. DC fast charging at up to 50kW allows a 30–80 percent recharge in around 24 minutes, they say.
Both Tank 300 Lux and Ultra variants offer proper off-road credentials, including low-range gearing, rear differential lock, crawl control, tank turn assist and multiple terrain modes. Braked towing capacity is rated at 3000kg, with payload of up to 610kg.
Standard equipment highlights on the Lux include 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-accented seats, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, adaptive cruise control and a comprehensive suite of active safety technology. The Ultra adds further luxury and capability with a front differential lock, enhanced underbody protection, Nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, driver massage function and expanded ambient lighting.
The Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV will be available in five exterior colours, although metallic paint attracts an additional $595 charge.
