Tesla cuts Model Y Performance price by $5000 as production moves to China
Words: Richard Edwards
Tesla has cut the price of the Model Y Performance by $5000 as production moves to its Shanghai factory. It is now $95,900 plus on-road costs, down from $100,900.
The price cut is part of a set of 2027 model year updates Tesla announced today, which can be ordered now.
The Model Y Performance also gets two new options, Glacier Blue paint and a Zen Grey interior. Paint is now a paid option on the Performance, as it is on the other Model Y variants.

Other Model Y variants get quicker. The Model Y Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive now gets to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds, and the six-seat Model Y L Premium All-Wheel Drive in 4.5 seconds.
All new Model Y and Model 3 now have Power Share, Tesla’s name for vehicle-to-load (V2L). It uses the car’s battery to run things like e-bikes, power tools and heaters through the Tesla Outlet Adapter, which is sold separately. Power Share can’t be added to existing cars.

Tesla has also launched a new entry-level Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, priced from $54,900 plus on-road costs.
