Toyota has today unveiled its take on a new compact SUV concept, previewing a future production model due to be released in 2024.

Called the Urban SUV Concept, the Japanese carmaker says it will be the “most compact and accessible” model in a six-strong EV line-up planned for Europe. There’s no word if it will be offered in other markets just yet.

When the production model arrives, it will be offered with both front- and all-wheel drive powertrains, as well as two battery options with different capacities.

It measures 4300mm in length, 1820mm wide, and 1620mm tall, which is similar to a Corolla Cross, albeit a tad shorter.

In terms of design, the concept features Toyota’s new ‘hammerhead’ front fascia that reminds us a lot of the newly released bZ4X, in addition to short overhangs front and rear and a rather stumpy side profile.

Nothing was shown of its interior, but Toyota says it can “easily be adapted to prioritise passenger or load space”.

Details surrounding a production version of the Toyota Urban SUV Concept will be announced next year.
