Audi has surprised the world by unveiling an all-new V8-powered supercar in Monaco ahead of this weekend’s F1 GP.
Dubbed the Nuvolari, this futuristic machine is powered by a twin-turbo, hybrid-assisted 4.0-litre V8 engine.
It’s the same engine that powers Lamborghini’s Temerario, but Audi notes that their Nuvolari will produce more power.
Exact figures are yet to be confirmed, but it will be somewhere in the region of 745kW or 1,000hp.
The Nuvolari makes use of a pair of electric motors on the rear axle, and another on the front axle.
Performance-wise, this all should be enough to propel it to 100km/h in 2.6-seconds before topping out at 350km/h.
The electric driving range is yet to be revealed, but we do know that it makes use of a 7.3kWh battery.
The Nuvolari gets its name from a famous Italian racing driver who competed throughout the early 20th century.
It also shares its name with the Audi Nuvolari quattro, which debuted at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show, but takes styling inspiration from the more recent Concept C.
While everyone thought the Concept C was previewing a new TT, few guessed it would become the replacement for the R8.
The brutish metal panels and sleek lights make it hard to believe this will become a production model, but Audi has committed to building 499 of them.
On the inside, the minimalistic theme continues with small displays, and a big red button the steering to activate the wing.
Production of the Audi Nuvolari will reportedly begin next year, with deliveries commencing in the first half of 2027.
