Chery issues recall for Tiggo 8 SUV
Words: Andrew Sluys
Chery has issued a recall for the Tiggo 8 SUV in New Zealand, citing a potential issue with a brake pipe.
According to the notice published to the NZTA website, a “manufacturing issue” may cause the pipe to chafe against the engine.

NZ Autocar reached out to Chery New Zealand for more information on the recall, to which a spokesperson replied with:
“Due to a manufacturing installation issue, the brake pipe located within the Tiggo 8’s engine bay may not be properly secured, which may result in the brake pipe chafing against the engine, specifically the turbo charger bolt or oxygen sensor, resulting in damage to the brake pipe.
“If the brake pipe becomes damaged, brake fluid may leak from the braking system, which could lead to reduced braking performance.
“A reduced braking performance while driving may increase the risk of an accident.
“The purpose of the recall is to inspect the brake pipe, and if it is not installed correctly and/or damaged, to install or replace the brake pipe.
“There are currently no reported incidents at this time and 110 vehicles are affected.”
The recall notice states owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Chery in writing to have the issue rectified, free of charge.
