The iCaur V25 is the latest vehicle to be uncovered by Chinese government filings, appearing online courtesy of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
As a sub-brand of Chery, iCaur (or iCar) is known for range-extending hybrid off-road SUVs such as the V23 and V27.
The brand’s latest product; the V25, sits square in the middle of these two SUVs.
Measuring at measuring 4,636mm long, 1,920mm wide, and 1,855mm tall the V25 is similar in size to a Toyota RAV4.
It sits on a 2,820mm wheelbase, which is slightly smaller than that of the RAV4, which likely improves its off-road ability.
Like the other iCaur vehicles, the V25 makes use of a range-extending hybrid powertrain, based around a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
This engine feeds a 33kWh battery, which drives the electric motors. The peak net power output is 105kW.
The V25 is rated to an electric driving range of 145km according to China’s WLTC testing protocols.
It’s also rated to an average fuel economy figure of 1.5L/100km, which is quite impressive considering it tips the scales at 2.7–tonnes.
While iCaur is yet to arrive in New Zealand, a spokesperson from Chery recently confirmed that the brand will launch locally at some point.
This was during a drive event of the V23 and V27, so it wouldn’t be out of the question to see the V25 also arrive in New Zealand.
