Greg Murphy’s Hellcat-swapped 1969 Dodge Charger heads to auction

Words: Andrew Sluys

Greg Murphy’s 1969 Dodge Charger built by world-renowned car builders Ringbrothers is set to be sold via auction.

Set to hit the Collecting Cars platform later this month, the Charger in question has undergone an incredible amount of work.

Described in the listing as a restomod, the Charger’s standard engine was swapped out for a Hellcat crate engine.

This supercharged 6.2-litre V8 is rated to 527kW, and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission from Bowler.

Despite this hefty engine swap, far more man hours have gone into the bodywork of this car, a number Collecting Cars estimates to be over 1,000.

Ringbrothers have created a unibody structure, heavily modifying the original body-on-frame design in the name of performance.

The body is finished in Porsche Signal Yellow, but still features the iconic graphics on the rear quarters panels as a nod to the original car.

The wheels it rides on are one-offs from HRE, and are wrapped in 295s at the front, and 345s on the rear.

On the inside, the interior is just as impressive as the outside, with Recaro seats and a Motec instrument cluster seemingly blending in.

“Pretty much every part of this car is custom,” says Mike Ring. “We really wanted it to scream ‘Charger’ without being heavily modified.”

Though it is technically a 1969 model, the rebuild was completed by the Ringbrothers in 2022, and it still has less that 1,000km on the clock.

“Greg Murphy’s ’69 Ringbrothers Dodge Charger is a restomod jewel,” says Lee Hallett, Head of APAC at Collecting Cars.

A price estimate for the auction hasn’t been provided, and it will be sold through Collecting Cars’ Sealed Bids listings, meaning this information will be kept private.
